Prepare the Tofu: Begin by pressing the firm tofu for at least 30 minutes. This step is crucial as it removes excess moisture, allowing for better texture. Once pressed, carefully cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
Make the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and optional red pepper flakes. Use a whisk to blend these ingredients until smooth and well incorporated.
Marinate the Tofu: Gently place the tofu cubes into the marinade, ensuring each piece is coated by carefully tossing them. Allow the tofu to marinate for 15-30 minutes.
Coat with Cornstarch: After marination, sprinkle cornstarch over the tofu cubes. Toss them lightly to ensure every piece is evenly coated.
Air Fry the Tofu: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the tofu cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer; if necessary, fry in batches to avoid overcrowding. Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking.
Glaze the Tofu: Once the tofu is perfectly fried, remove it from the air fryer. Place it back into the bowl with any leftover marinade, and gently toss the tofu to coat it in the tasty glaze.
Serve and Garnish: Arrange the glazed tofu onto a serving platter. For a pop of color and freshness, garnish generously with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
